The Willing Witness Society

"What will be your final witness?"

This question lies at the heart of the Willing Witness Society. Rooted in the belief that our final act of stewardship is a testimony to what we held dear in life, a legacy gift is a profound expression of personal values.

A Community of Believers

To be a Willing Witness is to acknowledge that everything we have is a gift from God. It is a cheerful decision to return a portion of that abundance to God's work, ensuring that the ministries you love continue to thrive for the next generation. It is a final testimony to your loved ones that you are invested in the future of the church.

A History of Shared Mission

Our society began in 1985, four years after our organization was formed. Then Lutheran Planned Giving Services President Rev. Keith T. Nelson convened the first group of "Willing Witnesses" at a restaurant in Wayne, NE. That day, a small group of faithful couples received coffee cups hand-fired by the residents of Bethpage (now Mosaic).

While that first Willing Witness celebration was intimate, the community of givers has flourished. Since its founding, Lutheran Giving has helped over 2,000 families develop more than $100 million in gifts to support congregations and ministries.

How to Become a Willing Witness

Joining the Willing Witness Society is simple. If you have already included your congregation or one of our partner ministries in your estate plan, please let us know so we can thank you and include you in our annual recognitions which includes an invitation to our annual celebration.

If you are just beginning to think about your legacy, we are here to help you explore options that provide for your family while supporting the mission of the church.
